OBG: Kick Diabetes to the Curb

I needed some thank you cards to give to my sponsors for the JDRF One Walk (yep, ... it is THAT time again!!) I thought that this Oldie But Goodie image from Bugaboo Stamps would be perfect! There are a bunch of these AKV Ninja in the AKV section. This one is specifically Ninja 6.

Check out what the rest of the Design Team did over on the Catch The Bug blog.

By the way, you can be part of the effort to turn Type One Diabetes into Type None by clicking the link.  We are hoping to raise $150,000 overall from the Colorado Springs chapter (my personal goal is $1500) and sadly, we are a bit behind.

SS 528: Little Miss Muffet

Howdy Friends.

It's time for another sketch challenge over on the Sketch Saturday blog.  I decided to rotate the sketch because I wanted the sentiment to be at the bottom of my card. Don't forget that you can change elements of our sketch as long as it's recognizable when you post it on the blog.

This week we are sponsored by Little Miss Muffet.  They are offering our winner $6 to spend in their on-line store.

I'd love to see you join in the fun this week!

FF: Passport Photos

The Bugaboo Design Team is still on vacation BUT Jodie isn't ... in fact she is offering up this darling image today because it's Friday Freebie day over in the Bugaboo store!  Yay, free stuff is always good!

Hurry over now!  This darling image of Stella is available.  It's from the Calendar month set; this is the August image.  Honestly THIS is what I look like coming BACK from a vacation.  I call it my "just let me on the plane" face and I usually wear it as I'm in the airport ... specifically in the TSA line.  Blah.  There is nothing worse than airport lines.

We will see you back on August 26th with more fun challenges.

Still Stuck At Home ... (sigh)

I love to craft.

But after a week of being trapped at home with construction workers ... I am ready to do something else. Even a trip to Walmart sounds fantastic! On the bright side, I'm completely caught up on the vacuuming and laundry.

So with my extra crafting time, I thought that I would work on using every single stamp that I own that has never seen ink (sadly, I have a bunch of those!)  This is Fanny from Art Impressions.  She is from their "Front and Back" collection.  After playing with this type of card, I think I may need to get a friend for her to gossip with ... maybe Violet or Guido. The sentiment is Eat, Sleep, Craft by Echo Park.

I learned quite a bit making this card. One, I usually make my insides with cheap paper (ironically from Walmart!) but I found that I can't use this paper with these type of cards because they require additional stamping. When I tried to use my Distressed Oxide inks to make the sky, it didn't blend. I actually ruined 2 of my sponges before I realized that bits of the paper were rolling off and the colors were STILL not blending. Also, this is a SUPER heavy card with all the layering of papers. Next time I will need to make the base out of heavier paper.

Overall, I like how the card turned out.

Here is the matching envie required by the Art Impression challenge ... after spending so much time on the card, I may have skimped a bit on the envelope!

The Library Challenge: Jungle Book

When I saw the Library Challenge, I KNEW that I would be participating.  Who doesn't love the Jungle Book.  I'm humming "The Bare Necessities" right now!!  I also knew that I'd be using an elephant stamp to represent the elephant herd in the film.  I love elephants and have about a billion elephant stamps!  It was more of a question of which stamp I'd use.  In the end, I used two.

My first card represents Winifred in the movie and uses Mo Manning's digital image: I Heart You.  Who doesn't like the ever patient Winifred who loves the bossy Colonel Hathi and manages not to kill him.  I get her ... I'm married to my own bossy-pants man.

My next card features Birdie Brown's Adorable Elephants and is supposed to be Hathi Jr.  I do love me some Birdie Brown.

I cased the layout of the second card.  My link in Pinterest is broken so I can't give credit where it's due.  So who-ever you are ... great card layout!

FF: Piggy Va-cay!

The end of Summer is nearly here (insert sad face here).  Not because I will miss the warm days ... too many hot days spent in Arizona for me to love any part of hot ... but because I will miss the boys around and our lazy schedule.

But in better news, it's Friday so that means there is a freebie over in the Bugaboo Digital Stamp shop.  It is a darling one too!  It's called Pig Vacay.  His little Hawaiian shirt is just too cute not to get this little guy.

Check out what my teamies did with this image by going over to the Catch The Bug blog.

Get Well Soon Ali

So one of my hubby's co-workers was jogging and ... was hit by a car!!  Not only was his collar bone broken, but the driver managed to park the car (when he finally stopped) ON Ali's foot. Big ouch. I needed a get well soon card ASAP

The sketch over on the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge fit the stamps I wanted to use (tho I did I have to move the sentiment to the other side so I wouldn't cover the cute broken tail on my doggie.  I'm using the Art Impressions set Doggy Kisses.

Art Impressions wanted to see an envelope decorated to match the card.  It's harder than it sounds because the copics do NOT want to blend on the cheap envelope paper.  I probably should have made my own envelope out of my cryogen paper but ... I was too lazy (and didn't really want to waste my expensive paper on just an envelope.)  It turned out cute anyway.
