CCC-Fancy Folding

It's with great sadness that I write my last post for the Creative Card Crew.  I decided to step down from the Design Team when I found myself crying and practically hyperventilating trying to get everything done that I needed to get done.  Ken didn't tell me what to do, but the look he gave me when I tried to explain my stress was enough.

I have too much on my plate.

Buying a new house
Starting a new business
Getting a puppy
and working on 2 design teams should probably never be combined.

So until the puppy is trained, and the move is over ... I'm removing a few things from my overloaded dixie plate!  Mari generously offered that I could return when I was feeling more "balanced."  And I would love to because CCC has been one of the best experiences.

But on to this week's challenge over at Creative Card Crew.

We'd like you to show us your fancy folding techniques.

I have to admit that this is a bit out of my comfort zone.  I am a simple card maker ... if I can't put it in an envelope and mail it, what is the point?  Having said that, I have to admit that I REALLY like what I made.  I  plan to let the boys give these to their teachers for Halloween.  I'm going to slap some chocolate inside the boxes and tape a Starbucks gift card to the back ... and voila, best room mom EVAH!!

Our sponsor is Stamp Fairy.  I REALLY like her new Halloween images.  Although the team always gets a few images to play with, I immediately went and bought the rest of the images.  They were too cute to pass up.  This week's winner gets a $10 gift certificate to spend on-line which is a pretty cool prize.

So get out there and put some folds in your paper.  If you need some inspiration, check out what my teamies made this week.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday: #176, DigiStamp Boutique

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another sketch challenge over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.

This time Arlana has cooked up a fun sketch,  great for those big images.  This week we are sponsored by Sally-Ann from DigiStamp Boutique.   I used Percy and the Christmas Tree that I found on the DigiStamp Boutique blog.  He's part of their new releases for this month.  Soo cute.  This week's winner will get 6 (yes, you read correctly ... SIX) free images.

My sentiment stamp is from Stampin Up.  I had to laugh.  When I initially stamped it, I was horrified to realize that it was upside-down on my card.   I stamped it again, and it was STILL upside-down.  Upon closer inspection, I realized that I had mounted on the block the wrong way.  And THIS is why you should always pay attention when assembling Stampin Up merchandise.

Have a great week.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday: #175-69, A Day For Daisies

It's Wednesday and that means that it's time for another sketch challenge over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.

This week's sketch was so fun and worked perfectly with the image that I chose from our sponsor, Tammy from A Day For Daisies.  I was immediately drawn to A Bear for Halloween; you can find her here.

I love my card this week because it reminds me of ... well, myself when I was younger.  I MAY have (er) borrowed a piece or two of candy from my sister's Halloween bag.  Not 100% sure but my sister maaaaay have a harsher take on the events described here.  Love ya, sis!

The A DAY FOR DAISIES site is fantastic.  It provides over 1000 fun and whimsical digital images, including fairy tales and magical mermaids, cutie kids, vintage illustrations, sentiments and lovely designs for all occasions!

This week your winning card could win you $12 to spend in Tammy's store.  Remember, in addition to posting your card, you must also comment on the Sweet Sketch blog to be eligible.

I'm entering the card in the following challenges:
The Poodle Parlour: Halloween
Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog: Halloween/Fall
Catered Crop: Halloween Screams Recipe
No Matter Which Challenge: Halloween Creations or Halloween Colours

Creative Card Crew - Birds

It's Tuesday and that means it's time for another Creative Card Crew challenge.  This week we're sponsored by the amazing Simon Says Stamp and we want you to show us your birds.

Ironically, until recently, I didn't have many bird stamps at all.  I don't know why but birds have never been at the top of my list of most desired stamps.  But I just acquired two bird digi-stamps in the last month.

The one I wanted to use the most was this one from Doodle Pantry.  How stinkin' cute is he?!!  This image is free and for the month of October, there is another totally cute ant image that is free with any purchase.  I highly recommend a visit to Doodle Pantry's site.

I used an old sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday to make my card.

So give us the bird ... and don't forget to link your card.  You could win a $20 voucher to spend in the Simon Says Stamp store.

I'm entering the card in the following challenges:
Polka Doodles: Wings and Things

Sneezie - Wheezie

I am in need of a "Get Well Soon" card for a friend.  September was a rough month for my friends and family.  I used all six of my back-up get well cards for the various illness and surgeries.  Thank heavens it's October, maybe we will get a break from sickness (though considering it's the start of flu season, prolly not!)

This is "Sick Chick" from Designed2Delight.  Cute huh?!!

I also wanted to share how much our latest baby has grown.  Holli has almost doubled in size.  TJ adores her and spends most mornings running and playing with her outside.  I wonder if he will still want to do this on tomorrow when we get our first snowfall!

Have a great weekend.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday 174: Saturated Canary

It's Wednesday so that means it's time for another sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.  It's a great one this week, so many ideas popped into my head when I saw it.

This week Krista from Saturated Canary is sponsoring us.  She is offering 2 free digis from her shop to the winning card.  What an amazing offer; I had a REALLY hard time choosing my digi when I was given the opportunity.  I picked this one because it reminded me of growing up in Arizona ... always in search of a fan during the summer!  Krista also has some GREAT zombies just in time for Halloween (which my kids reminded me this morning was ONLY 28 days away)

Ugh.  I haven't EVEN started making Halloween cards yet.  I think that this next weekend we will go to the local apple/pumpkin farm to get some pumpkins.  My kids have been nagging me to buy pumpkins since the grocery stores started having them around the beginning of September.

So get going on YOUR Halloween cards and post your card on the Sweet Sketch blog.  You could win 2 Saturated Canary digis!

Sweet Sketch Wednesday: 173-Deidre Mosher

We've made half-way through another week and that means it's time for another sketch challenge from Sweet Sketch Wednesday.

We are sponsored by Deidre Mosher Designs, whose theme is "Celebrating Women".  Heck yeah women need celebration!!  This week's winning prize is a $10 gift certificate.

Honestly if there was one sponsor I'd like to meet in person, Deidre might be it.  She describes her art as,

"Wildly Whimsical and Seriously Sassy Art"

I love that.  I want to be wildly whimsical and sassy!

So swing on by the blog, check out the rest of the team's designs and then link YOUR card.
