SSW 208: Make it Crafty

Look everyone ... this is me, being organized and making Christmas cards early!  It's only May too!  You MIGHT actually get a handmade card from me this year!

It's Wednesday and time for another challenge from the crew over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday!  This week our resident sketch artist, Sally, is asking us to work with circles.

Our sponsor is Zoe from Make it Crafty.  I chose this little guy, Gingerbread Dance.  I just couldn't resist his soft-shoe dancing.  He kind of reminded me of one of my FAVORITE Christmas movies, Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby.

Our winner gets a $15 gift certificate to the Make it Crafty store!

Don't forget you can't win, if you don't comment on the Sweet Sketch Wednesday blog.

SSW 207-60: Elisabeth Bell

As you read this, I am traveling to the land of cactus and heat.  Arizona.  I have made this trip MANY times.  Pre-kids I could make it in 12 hours.  One horrific journey with a 3 year old, 5 year old and a 6 year old in the back seat, it took 17 hours (yikes).  I expect that I will be on the road about 13 and 1/2 hours today.  Thank heavens for iPads, DVD players and transformers.

But I wanted to share with you the sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday.  This week we have another great sketch from the past.  If you'd like to revisit what the design team did then, click here.

This week our sponsor is Elisabeth Bell.  The Elisabeth Bell Digital Collection features enchanting, whimsical digital stamps for all your paper-crafting projects.

Your prize this week is to choose 2 of the three images our design team used this week.  And speaking of the design team, be sure and stop by their blogs and leave some love; they did an amazing job this week.

Hambo Hoedown

I needed a graduation card that wasn't too girly and was kinda fun.  This little guy from Hambo seemed to fit the bill.   My niece Meaghan graduates on Thursday.  Yikes.  This officially makes me ... very old.

I'm using the Sketch n Stash sketch.  I wasn't fast enough to get it on their site.  Must be more organized in the future.  I loved the sketch.  The only thing that bums me out was that in order to get it to follow the sketch, the DP is sideways.  Sometimes being a lefty can be a bummer!

Hambo's challenge this week is to use a punch.  I don't actually have punches anymore since the move.  I decided that the few punches that I had were bulky and took up too much room.  I "downsized" to use only dies since they are flat and store easier.  Soo, this is gonna have to do!

I'm also entering it in The Pink Elephant's graduation challenge.

SSW206: Digistamp Boutique

Happy Wednesday!!

We have another sketch challenge over on the Sweet Sketch Wednesday blog that we hope you will try.

This week our sponsor is Sally-Ann from Digistamp Boutique.  I'm using another "Murphy" digi.  Sally-Ann has an entire collection of Murphys that I will probably "need" eventually.

I paper-pieced Murphy's little balloon and present.  I love this technique because it's an awesome way to use tiny scraps but had never tried it with digis.  I don't know why but feeding DP through my printer intimidated me.  It worked just fine as you can see (though you DO need to use larger pieces in the printer ... I jammed it up trying to use one of the microscopic pieces from my stash!!)

Sally-Ann is offering up 6 free digis as the prize this week.

Come-on and join us!!

Tuesday Morning Sketches 197

It's Friday afternoon and I am sooooo in need of a caffeinated beverage right now.  Oh heck, if I'm completely honest, anytime is a good time for an iced coffee!

I actually made this card for my son's teacher (whom I adore and share an addiction to Starbucks with).  Today is her birthday and I wanted to let her know that I remembered her.

Poor thing has to do Field Day today.  Nothing like celebrating your birthday, outside with 25 overly-excited seven-year olds!!  SHE will probably desperately NEED the Starbucks card I tucked inside by the time school is over!

I'm using the sketch from TMS.   I loved its simplicity this week.

SSW205: A Day For Daisies

It's Wednesday and so that means it's time for another challenge from the Sweet Sketch Wednesday blog.  This week we have Tammy from A Day For Daisies as our sponsor.

She has fantastic whimsical images that are just darn fun to use. I chose "Girl Power" this week.  I fell in love with it a few weeks back when my teamie, Jeannie used it.  To see her amazing card, click here.

I needed a card to tell my son's teacher Ms. B how much we love her.  It's teacher appreciation week.  We have cards, flowers and a Starbucks gift card to give her!

We hope you will join in this week.  We have a fun sketch, perfect for practically any image.  Don't forget to comment so you can WIN the $12 up for grabs in the ADFD shop.

Tuesday Morning Sketches 196

I'm having a pretty good Sunday I gotta say.  Not only did I get to drive to Denver to go to the Denver Quilt Festival, have a kid-free Cinco de Mayo lunch with some friends, but I also had time to craft.  It's kinda been a hobby lalapalooza day for me!!  Yippee!!

I loved the sketch over TMS so I had to find time to play.  I've been in such a rut, making square cards that I was a bit on autopilot.   I didn't even notice that I over-looked the fact that the sketch called for the card to be a rectangle.  By the time I noticed, I was past the point of starting over (kids were starting to whimper about hunger and I could tell that the hubster was pretty much "done" being the primary parent for the day)

I got that yummy ribbon from one of my stampin "sistahs" and I wanted to use it.   Thanks Vickie!

SSW204: QKR Stampede

This elephant made me giggle.  Mostly because I live with three tooter-polluters who roar with laughter every time one is ripped.  "Good one, Dad!"  Boys!!

But the REAL reason that we are here today is that it's time for another sketch challenge over at  Sweet Sketch Wednesday and it's a great one.

Our sponsor is QKR Stampede.  They specialize in somewhat cute, somewhat quirky rubber and digital stamps.  Since that pretty much describes me, I naturally fell in love with their stuff.

Our prize this week is 5 digital images of your choice.  Woot-woot!  I hope to see you join in, even if you don't have barking spiders inhabiting YOUR house!
