SSW 186: Bugaboo

Happy day AFTER Christmas!

I hope today finds you relaxing and enjoying the calm of it not being a major holiday!  I know that for me, the pressure of creating the "perfect" holiday experience for my family can be exhausting.  Curse you Martha Stewart!!

This week over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday, we are hosted by  Jodi from Bugaboo.  She's offering up SEVEN digi images for the winning card this week.

Arlana's sketch is so darn cute that it was really easy to whip something up.  So join in the fun and upload your card to the Sweet Sketch blog.  You could find that you are this week's big winner.

SSW 185-141: DigiStamp Boutique

Yay, the internet is a good thing.

We have been without it for nearly a week.  We live in a more remote and wooded part of town now so we had to upgrade.  It's taken many days and MANY calls to the repair line of our ISP company.   We currently have service but the modem is balanced on top of a chair.  It's the only way it can get reception because it's wireless.  I suspect that the company may YET have to come back to the house again, but at least it works!

This is my card for Sweet Sketch Wednesday.  This week we are sponsored by DigiStamp Boutique.  I used "Alf" who is just so darn cute that he makes me smile every time.  I suspect that I will eventually have to get every one of them.

The prize this week for a winning entry is six digis from Sally-Ann's shop.  So what are you waiting for ... get crafting!

SSW 184: Better Late Than Never

OK, um ... so it's Friday and I am just NOW posting my Sweet Sketch WEDNESDAY card.  The long and short of it is I moved.  Not far from my old house, about 15 miles, but wow, what a difference those 15 miles make!

I did TRY to be organized in my packing.  My first 100 boxes were labeled with it's content's itemized on the side of each box.  But then, on the day of the move, we STILL had items unpacked.  I cut my leg on some broken glass and couldn't get it to stop bleeding and then (as if things couldn't get any worse) the youngest got the stomach flu.  Organization went out the window and we just made it work.  All the cards that I had made ahead of time for SSW went into a box and were temporarily lost. Ugh.

Found at last, I can finally share my card with you.  Arlana's sketch was really fun to work with and this week we are sponsored by the always amazing A Day For Daisies.  I used "Buddy" which I absolutely adore the sweetness of this image.

So come-on, join in.  You could win $12 to spend in the A Day For Daisies store with your entry.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday 183: Meljen's Designs

Happy Wednesday.  It's time for another challenge from Sweet Sketch Wednesday.  This week we have a fantastic sketch to work with and our sponsor is Meljen's Designs

I have to apologize for the poor quality of my picture this week.  Half of my house is packed up for our move (the movers come in 2 days to finish packing up my house) and I'm pretty sure that I packed my camera ... in one of the billion boxes that now litter my new house.  This is my phone"s camera ... not good.

I liked this week's sketch so much that I actually created two cards with it.  I'm starting to panic a little.  I have 20 days from today to unpack my house, decorate, send out cards and get a little "Ho Ho Ho" in my life.  I don't have nearly enough cards made to send out.  Yikes.

So join in our sketch fun!  Upload your card to Sweet Sketch Wednesday.  You could win 4 non-colored digi-images of your choice this week!

Sweet Sketch Wednesday #182: Broken Box Designs

Phew,  did you all survive the craziness that is Thanksgiving?!!  We had a great holiday but I think that I picked up a cold while I was in Layton.  Small wonder since I think all my nieces were sick (even the great-nephews were a bit snuffly).  Bleah ... must stop smaking on sick kids but who could NOT kiss this little face?  Too cute!!

This week our sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday is Broken Box Designs

Broken Box Stock is a fun, imaginative and unique clip-art shop featuring hand-drawn illustrations and digital stamps by Wendy Sefcik.

This week, the prize up for grabs is the Holiday Toodle Set Printable Page ( You can check it out here: http://www.brokenboxstock.com/item/Holiday_Toodle_Set_/672/c115)

We hope that you will get sketchy with us this week! Don't forget to comment after you upload your card so you are eligible to win the prize.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday: #181-DigiStamp Boutique

Yikes!  The day before the storm, aka Thanksgiving.  I hope you are sitting in a comfy chair and surfing the 'net rather than cleaning, baking, or running to the store, trying to find kumquats or something else ridiculous.

Our sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday is a great one.  And this week we are sponsored by Sally Ann from DigiStamp Boutique.

"My work means the world to me - it allows my passion to draw and create, to fit with my family life too - often the inspiration for my designs. Hope you enjoy as much as I enjoy creating."

I am lucky enough to be going to my sister-in-law's in the land of fry-sauce for T-day.  This means I'll be surrounded by lots of nieces and nephews (and babies), lots of great food and of course, football.  I can NOT wait.

So after you've had your fill of pumpkin pie and field goals, link up your card over at SSW.  Sally Ann is generously providing the winner with 6 free digi images.  We'd love to see your work.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday #180: Sassy Cheryl

It's the middle of the week again.  Can you believe it?  Still packing up my house so days are merging into each other.  Gosh I'll be glad when this is all over.  Last weekend, in a move to be more efficient, Ken packed up most of our electronics and moved them to the new house.  I was a bit surprised (and more than a little cranky) when I tried to print .... but there was no printer available.  NOT a great start to a crafting session, especially when using digis!  But it all worked out!

This week over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday Arlana has given us  a great sketch to work with ... lots of layers.  My favorite!

Our sponsor this week is Cheryl from Sassy Cheryl images.  And here is a chance to meet the girl in her own words:

"Hi everyone! Sassy Cheryl here and I’m so happy to be sponsoring the Sweet Sketch Wednesday challenge this week.

I have been creating graphics and have licensed my work to companies such as Kohl's, Hobby Lobby and Shopko, among others, for over eight years.
I started creating digital images about twelve years ago. I absolutely LOVE to draw and always carry a small sketchbook for those times when a bit of inspiration hits. It's been a lifelong dream to become a working artist, and besides deadlines, I LOVE everything about what I do!"

So come join in the fun.  Sassy Cheryl's is offering our winner a $5 gift certificate for her store.
If you still need some inspiration, stop by the site to see what my teamies made.  Be sure and leave them some love while you are there.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday: Stamp Fairy, #179

 Hiya peeps!

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another sketch challenge over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.

This week we are sponsored by Gerda Burghardt.  Stamp Fairy was officially launched on November 5th 2010. Gerda, the artist and owner, creates cute and whimsical digital images for the young and old, inspired by her life, love and 4 cute cats.

Our sketch is fairly straight forward with the strips of designer paper.  You can't tell but I DO have three!  Dang I'm good at matching DP! (grin)

In other news ... the house is packing up nicely.  I should (she says optimistically) be ready to move in four weeks.  I was a little surprised at how easily I packed up my stamps.  A year ago I would have practically hyperventilated at the thought of being separated from my beloved stamps for 5 weeks.

But ... as long as I have my spellbinders, I think that I will be fine with just digis.  I can't wait to show you pictures of my new craft room and house.  Yay!

Don't forget that YOU could win a $10 gift certificate for linking your card to the Sweet Sketch Wednesday site.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday #178: Doodle Garden

Happy Halloween!  Good heavens, can you believe that it's the last day of the month?  Where is this year going?!!

It's time for another Wednesday challenge  from Sweet Sketch Wednesday.

This week's sketch has more of those wonderful circles that I love.  It was an easy one for me.  Our sponsor is Jenna from Doodle Garden and I am using her super cute Super Hero Stanley.

Meet Jenna ... in her own words:

I'm Jennifer L Nilsson (but please, call me Jenn or Jenna!). And I am blessed to be able to work full-time from home as a licensed artist.

I enjoy creating bright whimsical pieces for manufacturers, but also wanted to be able to offer something to those who like to craft ... I am SOOO enjoying creating these little whimsies for YOU!

Our prize this week for the winning card is 5 single digis so get out there are start stamping.  You could be the big winner for the last challenge in October!

Sweet Sketch Wednesday: #177 - Bugaboo

Welcome to the middle of the week (though for me, it's the end)  Yep, the kids have Thursday and Friday off from school and we are taking a vacation.  Yip-ppppee!

This week over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday we have a fun sketch .. lots of circles which are my favorite!  I used one of the circles to make my sentiment and then threw on these fantastic brads that I found in "da stash"

I had to include the sentiment on the front because it was THE best part about this image!   I made this card for my friend's parents who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday.

Our sponsor this week is Jodie from Bugaboo.  The description she gives of her work is "[everything] from seriously snarky to sugary sweet to sublimely soulful all the way over to the other side of the super sexy spectrum, you're bound to find all that you need and more to create your paper projects"  Naturally, I'm drawn to the seriously snarky images!

I love Gus and Stella!  This week the prize is 7 (yep, seven!) images.  So come on over to SSW this week and play.  You could be the winner!

CCC-Fancy Folding

It's with great sadness that I write my last post for the Creative Card Crew.  I decided to step down from the Design Team when I found myself crying and practically hyperventilating trying to get everything done that I needed to get done.  Ken didn't tell me what to do, but the look he gave me when I tried to explain my stress was enough.

I have too much on my plate.

Buying a new house
Starting a new business
Getting a puppy
and working on 2 design teams should probably never be combined.

So until the puppy is trained, and the move is over ... I'm removing a few things from my overloaded dixie plate!  Mari generously offered that I could return when I was feeling more "balanced."  And I would love to because CCC has been one of the best experiences.

But on to this week's challenge over at Creative Card Crew.

We'd like you to show us your fancy folding techniques.

I have to admit that this is a bit out of my comfort zone.  I am a simple card maker ... if I can't put it in an envelope and mail it, what is the point?  Having said that, I have to admit that I REALLY like what I made.  I  plan to let the boys give these to their teachers for Halloween.  I'm going to slap some chocolate inside the boxes and tape a Starbucks gift card to the back ... and voila, best room mom EVAH!!

Our sponsor is Stamp Fairy.  I REALLY like her new Halloween images.  Although the team always gets a few images to play with, I immediately went and bought the rest of the images.  They were too cute to pass up.  This week's winner gets a $10 gift certificate to spend on-line which is a pretty cool prize.

So get out there and put some folds in your paper.  If you need some inspiration, check out what my teamies made this week.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday: #176, DigiStamp Boutique

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another sketch challenge over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.

This time Arlana has cooked up a fun sketch,  great for those big images.  This week we are sponsored by Sally-Ann from DigiStamp Boutique.   I used Percy and the Christmas Tree that I found on the DigiStamp Boutique blog.  He's part of their new releases for this month.  Soo cute.  This week's winner will get 6 (yes, you read correctly ... SIX) free images.

My sentiment stamp is from Stampin Up.  I had to laugh.  When I initially stamped it, I was horrified to realize that it was upside-down on my card.   I stamped it again, and it was STILL upside-down.  Upon closer inspection, I realized that I had mounted on the block the wrong way.  And THIS is why you should always pay attention when assembling Stampin Up merchandise.

Have a great week.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday: #175-69, A Day For Daisies

It's Wednesday and that means that it's time for another sketch challenge over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.

This week's sketch was so fun and worked perfectly with the image that I chose from our sponsor, Tammy from A Day For Daisies.  I was immediately drawn to A Bear for Halloween; you can find her here.

I love my card this week because it reminds me of ... well, myself when I was younger.  I MAY have (er) borrowed a piece or two of candy from my sister's Halloween bag.  Not 100% sure but my sister maaaaay have a harsher take on the events described here.  Love ya, sis!

The A DAY FOR DAISIES site is fantastic.  It provides over 1000 fun and whimsical digital images, including fairy tales and magical mermaids, cutie kids, vintage illustrations, sentiments and lovely designs for all occasions!

This week your winning card could win you $12 to spend in Tammy's store.  Remember, in addition to posting your card, you must also comment on the Sweet Sketch blog to be eligible.

I'm entering the card in the following challenges:
The Poodle Parlour: Halloween
Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog: Halloween/Fall
Catered Crop: Halloween Screams Recipe
No Matter Which Challenge: Halloween Creations or Halloween Colours

Creative Card Crew - Birds

It's Tuesday and that means it's time for another Creative Card Crew challenge.  This week we're sponsored by the amazing Simon Says Stamp and we want you to show us your birds.

Ironically, until recently, I didn't have many bird stamps at all.  I don't know why but birds have never been at the top of my list of most desired stamps.  But I just acquired two bird digi-stamps in the last month.

The one I wanted to use the most was this one from Doodle Pantry.  How stinkin' cute is he?!!  This image is free and for the month of October, there is another totally cute ant image that is free with any purchase.  I highly recommend a visit to Doodle Pantry's site.

I used an old sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday to make my card.

So give us the bird ... and don't forget to link your card.  You could win a $20 voucher to spend in the Simon Says Stamp store.

I'm entering the card in the following challenges:
Polka Doodles: Wings and Things

Sneezie - Wheezie

I am in need of a "Get Well Soon" card for a friend.  September was a rough month for my friends and family.  I used all six of my back-up get well cards for the various illness and surgeries.  Thank heavens it's October, maybe we will get a break from sickness (though considering it's the start of flu season, prolly not!)

This is "Sick Chick" from Designed2Delight.  Cute huh?!!

I also wanted to share how much our latest baby has grown.  Holli has almost doubled in size.  TJ adores her and spends most mornings running and playing with her outside.  I wonder if he will still want to do this on tomorrow when we get our first snowfall!

Have a great weekend.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday 174: Saturated Canary

It's Wednesday so that means it's time for another sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.  It's a great one this week, so many ideas popped into my head when I saw it.

This week Krista from Saturated Canary is sponsoring us.  She is offering 2 free digis from her shop to the winning card.  What an amazing offer; I had a REALLY hard time choosing my digi when I was given the opportunity.  I picked this one because it reminded me of growing up in Arizona ... always in search of a fan during the summer!  Krista also has some GREAT zombies just in time for Halloween (which my kids reminded me this morning was ONLY 28 days away)

Ugh.  I haven't EVEN started making Halloween cards yet.  I think that this next weekend we will go to the local apple/pumpkin farm to get some pumpkins.  My kids have been nagging me to buy pumpkins since the grocery stores started having them around the beginning of September.

So get going on YOUR Halloween cards and post your card on the Sweet Sketch blog.  You could win 2 Saturated Canary digis!

Sweet Sketch Wednesday: 173-Deidre Mosher

We've made half-way through another week and that means it's time for another sketch challenge from Sweet Sketch Wednesday.

We are sponsored by Deidre Mosher Designs, whose theme is "Celebrating Women".  Heck yeah women need celebration!!  This week's winning prize is a $10 gift certificate.

Honestly if there was one sponsor I'd like to meet in person, Deidre might be it.  She describes her art as,

"Wildly Whimsical and Seriously Sassy Art"

I love that.  I want to be wildly whimsical and sassy!

So swing on by the blog, check out the rest of the team's designs and then link YOUR card.
